Background & Objectives
Our client was a blue chip organisation who were looking for a two day highly competitive event for 40 employees. The team were young and had requested unusual accommodation with challenging activities.
Planning and Preparation
After reducing the list of accommodation ideas down we then strove to find the perfect location to hold the event. The activities suggested were a combination of team awareness but with individual flair being able to shine. We tried to create completely different objectives each day to provide the variety to keep everyone entertained throughout.
The Event
Day 1 – Arrival in the New Forest for a Bushtucker Day.
This included:-
Orienteering, Signalling & Communication, Archery & Shelter Building.
Each team was awarded coins dependant on ability and creativity which were then used by the individuals in the evening for food, drink or campfire equipment depending on what meant the most to them.
The orienteering provided a four digit number (one per team) which then gave the teams the opportunity to open the chest. The winning team could then choose to share or keep the prize contents!
The Signaling and Communication left teams with a movie character and were requested to perform a sods opera in the evening relating to it.
The team stayed in Pod Pads set up as a village and enjoyed musical entertainment provided around the campfire in the evening.
Day 2 – Arrival at 5 star Hotel for a luxury Day.
The group were treated to a swim, spa and shower with exclusive use followed by a Breakfast Feast.
Activities were then provided including:-
Climbing Wall, Segways, Powerturns and Hovercraft.
The teams then arrived back to enjoy a lavish four course meal before heading home.
Results and Outcomes
Those Individuals with high expectations and very driven were challenged as they needed to step back slightly and help create a team reliant on each other for varying skills. This was also the case for those who were naturally shy and were happy to take a back seat, they were encouraged to show their ability.
The combination of bringing the group right back to basics and then lavishing them with the finer things proved to work effectively for all.
