Background & Objectives
Our client requested a weekend event as a surprise for his wife’s 30th Birthday and 50 of their friends and family. The parameters given were a 2 hour radius of Birmingham and a large meal to be incorporated on the second night.
Planning and Preparation
With the budget given we looked at the possibility of taking the group abroad and making every detail memorable for all of them. We looked into various European destinations but Holland offered everything we were looking for on a grand scale.
The Event
Maastricht
Day 1 – After surprising the Birthday Girl at the Airport, we flew the party out by private jet to Maastricht providing bespoke headrest covers and brochures to add a personal touch.
The group was taken to a beautiful luxury Hotel for their weekend stay.
In the evening we arranged two old classic coaches to take them to a Chateau Restaurant for a 5 course dinner with spectacular views.
Day 2 – The clients spent the morning in Maastricht Old Town participating in a fantastic Quest. This incorporated Photo tasks, Caricature Drawing, Archery, Boules, A German archaeologist all whilst reliving an old Dutch tale. The clues given if the teams were successful in the challenges created the name of the restaurant to meet for lunch which was a truly unusual cave.
The afternoon presented the group with four activities:- Hiking in the caves, Mountain Biking, Laser Clay Shooting with the group finishing with a walk using a compass which brought them through the landscape and back to the Hotel.
On arrival back at the room the clients found authentic medieval costumes with an awaiting seamstress to be worn for the evening. The group were then taken to the Rose Garden for aperitifs with music played by a local group in traditional folk style. The evening finished with a fantastic Medieval Banquet still accompanied by the band. The clients then flew back to the UK the following Morning by private jet.
Results and Outcomes
The Clients were family, friends and work colleagues of the Birthday Girl with very different backgrounds and some had not even flown before. The weekend proved a huge success and has left some lasting memories for all who attended. Holland we felt provided us with a fantastic mix of history, beauty and superb service.
