Teambuilding

Towering Inturno

An exciting task requiring a logical thought process, trust and courage ! The aim is for the team to build a tower from the stacking crates provided as high as possible without the tower tumbling to the ground or the climber falling from the tower. Points will be awarded for the logical execution and team work of the task along with the tower height achieved. Definitely not for the faint hearted and guaranteed to get the adrenalin pumping.

Elevation

Planning and effective communication is required if this task is to be solved along with careful and considered execution. Each team member must retrieve a box from a restricted area in order to assist in solving a puzzle. This particular task involves working off of the ground on boxes and wooden planks; hence the name. Slightly more physical than some of our other tasks.

Hoist the Mast

Can the team get the flag pole into the centre of a restricted area, get it safely erected and raise it’s flag? Not as easy as it sounds with many rules and constraints to abide by. If this task is to be achieved good planning and committed team work is essential. It proves fun and rewarding and is very popular.

Melt Down

The highly toxic and dangerous fluid is Kraptonite. The highly scientific and dangerous task is to split the Kraptonite into stable units. What makes life highly difficult is that the team only have 3 odd sized containers and a laddle with which to do it. Let’s hope some of the team are good at Maths and at least one of them has a steady hand. The correct apparatus and protective clothing must be worn in order to complete the task within the constraints explained at the outset.

Druids Maze

As a complex puzzle, this task requires the team to plan, evaluate and execute correctly. It will also require the team to use effective communication and leadership skills. Faced with a giant bungee maze (laid over quick sand just to make life exciting) and needing to cross from one side to the other they are informed they can achieve this by using a series of coloured boards laid in a particular sequence to safely cross. Can they work out the sequence?

Artesian

The team will be faced with a restricted area that they are told contains a deadly virus. The aim of the task is to safely manoeuvre the deadly virus from its original setting into another area and a decontamination chamber, thus preventing massive life loss and maybe even the end of the world! It’s serious stuff!!. This is a multi task challenge and requires forward thinking and processed planning. It enhances co-operation and communication between team members and is really good fun.

Eggs in Space

Using the equipment provided, the teams have to construct a free standing launcher from which to fire a missile (a fresh egg) as far as possible. The teams need vision and a good design of engineering brilliance to perform the task successfully. Incorporating an element of fun and competition into an event this task makes for a fun team on team finale activity.

Nuclear Chamber

One of our more adventurous tasks requiring the team to use strong communication skills and delegation and evaluation are key factors. Faced with a gorge (possibly containing toxic fluids, very hungry piranhas or equally dangerous things), the team has to get themselves safely across using only the equipment provided and collecting certain items along the way from designated ‘safe arreas’. A safe passage across is one thing but in true Indiana Jones style you get over that hurdle only to find you then need to use the items collected to safely retrieve a bomb for a nuclear chamber; thus saving the world…again!

Mine Burst

Each member of the team must take it in turn to step up and turn over a tile. The object is to find tile number 1 at which point you will be given a question. If the question is answered correctly or not this routine continues up to a maximum of 40 tiles. If tile 1 is not found firstly, the tile is replaced and the object of the task is to remember what numbered tile lies where so they are turned and questions answered in sequence. At the end of the time limit the total number of correct answers are added up and forms the team score.

Nailed or Screwed

Try to support all 11 nails on the head of the nail protruding from the globe. None of the 11 nails must be supported on anything but the head of the nail in the globe, that includes the globe or that on which the globe is supported. Many attempts will be made and the solution will be met with a groan of frustration.

Minefield

This will involve each team building a suspension bridge over which a remote controlled vehicle is driven – collectively at the briefing all teams are given instructions and various materials in which to achieve this. It will require the team to plan, design, build and test their section of the structure. Each of the bridges will need to be given load bearing certification on completion of the remote control car passing over it and so a cage will be hung from the underside of each bridge in turn, weights applied and tested (this has the potential for being very amusing!). The event finale will be all of the teams coming together, joining their bridges together to create one large structure and running the vehicle the entire distance to the satisfaction of all.

Spiders Web

Hands on and tactile the team members are required to display trust and reliance as well as good team work and effective planning skills. The entire team have to pass through the giant web without touching it or the structure it hangs upon. You would expect some constraints to make life a little harder and we have many of them! A more physical task that requires some off the ground work for those prepared to be lifted. It raises many laughs and is both an effective and fun task.

All the Kings Men

A mathematical conundrum! Heading off on crusade the King leaves his general and his troops in charge of guarding his Castle. In order to feel protected the General likes to look down from his turret and see a certain amount of soldiers to each of the North, South, East and West sides. Some surviving soldiers return from the crusade and have to be integrated with the existing troops so that the same number can still be seen from every direction.

Bridge Break

This is a great finale requiring a company effort where by all of the teams come together at the end of the day to achieve a common goal. Having the transportation but an incomplete road system each team is responsible for ensuring their part of the escape plan is successful by bridging x 1 metre ravines to secure an escape route; when all parts are brought together it should result in the ‘escape’ of the entire company.

Handcuffs

What better way to break the ice at the start of an event and look to build relationships then by handcuffing your colleagues together?!! The team members form pairs and are then handcuffed together at the wrists. The object of this task is to free themselves from the rope cuffs without using their hands to pull them off of their wrists or anything with which to cut the rope cuffs or dismember their limbs. Prepare to see some interesting contortions in a bid to break free.

Ski Planks

Can the team make it around the course on the giant ski palnks? Co-ordination is useful, communication is essential and a fit of the giggles probable. This activity can stand alone as a team task or is a fun way to get teams from task to task throughout an event. Ski Planks is also a good ice breaker at the start of an event to get people warmed up, laughing and working together.

Ten Poles

The brief is to make five crosses from the ten poles laid out in front of the team. The constraints are explained and involve a sequence of moves. It’s a little brain teaser but one you’ll do your best to remember and maybe found doing at your desk with pens or in the pub with matches!

Thomas the Tank Engine

Laid out in front of the team is a railway track that includes an engine, two carriages (one red one blue) and a tunnel. The team need to work out how to get the red carriage onto the right hand side of the track and the blue onto the left. As always certain constraints will apply i.e. neither the train nor the carriages can be de railed! A fun stand alone task or fill in table top task that can be facilitated in doors or out.

Squares

A great little filler or ice breaker puzzle. The team must work together to rearrange the squares to ensure that squares of the same colour do not touch horizontally, vertically or diagonally. It will have you scratching your head but like all these puzzles – easy when you know how.
