As the majority of the event is a team against team competition we think it would be a good idea make the escape part of the task a company effort by where all of the teams come together to achieve a common goal
Having the transport but an incomplete road system each team is responsible for ensuring their part of the escape plan is successful by bridging x 1 metre ravines to secure an escape route; when all parts are brought together it should result in the ‘escape’ of the entire company.
This will involve each team building a suspension bridge over which a remote controlled vehicle is driven – collectively at the briefing all teams are given instructions and various materials in which to achieve this. It will require the team to plan, design, build and test their section of the structure.
The event finale will be all of the teams coming together, joining their bridges together to create one large structure and running the vehicle the entire distance to the satisfaction of all.
Each of the bridges will need to be given load bearing certification on completion of the remote control car passing over it and so a cage will be hung from the underside of each bridge in turn, weights applied and tested (this has the potential for being very amusing!).
There is a role for all participants to demonstrate their individual talents, as the completed bridge would require the following skill sets.
- Design
- Construction
- Artistry – a flag may be flown from a flag pole at the top of the bridge with a true representation of their bridge and name.
- Wiring skills – a lamp to be secured at the top of the flag pole (to ward off low flying aircraft) battery operated with switch and illuminated prior to testing.
- Driver Training – given to the team member who elects to drive the remote control car over the bridge (one from each team).
